A dog may be a man’s best friend, but it’s not every day a dog is likened to a secretary.
However Hekan isn’t just another ordinary one trick pony — or pooch.
The talented one-year-old border collie helps his owner Steve Jefferys train horses in Melbourne, Australia, doing many of the things Mr Jefferys is unable to do alone.
Hekan, whose name is a shortened form of ‘he can do anything’, holds the horses as they’re saddled, takes them for walks on a lead, and fetches items. Not to stop there, he can also ride horses. “He’s an incredibly talented dog,” Mr Jefferys said. “He’s basically my secretary.”
Mr Jefferys is best known as being the lone rider in the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Now he and Hekan train stunt horses for stage or film.
