The Most Popular Cat Names In America

America has spoken and the results are in — here's a nationwide list of the most popular cat names of the year.

Cat lovers clearly have sweet tooths: Brulee, Mocha and Butterscotch all made appearances on the list, released this week by Rover.com, "the nation's Airbnb for pets."

Pop culture also had some influence: Elsa from "Frozen" and Daenerys from "Game of Thrones" both showed up.

But by far the most popular cat names overlapped with the most popular baby names — which makes sense. Aren't cats just furry babies?

For the boys, Jack, Jasper and Milo all made the top 10, with Charlie taking the number one spot.

And for the girls the overlap was even more striking; 50 percent of the top names for cats were also top baby names in 2014. These trends may suggest that we see our kitties as we do any other family member, and that they deserve names that reflect that.

Here are the top 10 cat names for boys:

1. Charlie

2. Jack

3. Jasper

4. Dexter

5. Milo

6. Fred

7. Simon

8. Simba

9. George

10. Boomer

And for girls:

1. Lily

2. Chloe

3. Lucy

4. Bella

5. Luna

6. Maddie

7. Emma

8. Coco

9. Molly

10. Callie
